Terms of the Agreement:

1. General Terms: The Shiloh Christian Music Academy (heretofore referred to as the ‘Academy’ or ‘SCMA’), will provide classroom instruction (heretofore referred to as the ‘Session’). In enrolling your child (heretofore referred to as the ‘Student’), you, the parent or guardian (heretofore referred to as the ‘Parent’) are agreeing to the terms listed in this agreement (heretofore referred to as the ‘Agreement’). Contingent in this contract is the understanding that our classes are Biblically-based and everything is done for the glory of Jesus Christ. For more information, please see our Doctrinal Statement below. Of course, people of all faiths (or of no faith) are always welcome! Thank you!

2. Services Provided: Academic Music Classes: The SCMA offers two Academic Music classes (for grades k-5), with over two hours of music fun and academic enrichment in English, math, science, art, and PE.

Other Classes: We may offer Band (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, low brass, and percussion), Contemporary Band (each student learns drums, piano, and guitar), and Orchestra (violin or cello) classes. Please contact Mr. Shiloh for availability. All instrumental classes are $15 per session (usually 50 minutes, twice per week).

3. Weekly Attendance: Regular attendance is vital as our students progress extremely quickly! A private lesson or two may help to get your student up to speed with the rest of the class. Typically, a 15 minute lesson will suffice. Private lessons are available on Mondays after our PM session (around 2:20). Mr. Shiloh charges $1 per minute (e.g., 15 minutes costs $15), paid for in cash or by check. Music lessons for all band and orchestral instruments, piano, guitar, and drums may also be available for thirty minute lessons at $30 apiece. Please confirm with Mr. Shiloh for lesson availability.

4. Tuition: Class sizes are limited to just 10 students, so enrollment is first come, first serve. Classes cost approximately $10 per class hour and your tuition also includes a Christmas or Spring Concert including an Open House with your student’s work on display. Remember to come to the concert early to see the exhibits!

5. Cancellations: Feel free to cancel your enrollment at any time. All fees paid will be refunded with a $20 service fee. Cancellations must be given at least one week prior to the session(s) to be refunded. The date of the email will be considered the day of notice to receive a refund.

6. Academy Rules: Student’s enrollment at the Academy is subject to the general statements, rules, regulations, conditions, and financial terms contained in this Agreement. Mr. Shiloh has a reputation for outstanding classroom management, backed by decades of experience. However, if your child is known to be highly disruptive, you may be asked to remain in the classroom to assist in instructing your child in proper classroom behaviors. Thank you for your understanding.

7. Supervision: Parents may wait outside the classroom. We may have close circuit viewing of our class (if available) or help yourself to some coffee or socialize with other parents. If you leave the campus, make sure that you are reachable by phone. If you choose to leave campus, it is extremely important to pick your child up promptly when the class ends. The Academy reserves the right to cancel this Agreement for chronically late parents or guardians. Thank you for being on time!

8. Termination of Student’s Attendance: The Academy may choose to suspend or terminate this Agreement if the parent and/or student is significantly abridging the flow of education or in the hindrance of SCMA administrative duties as deemed either ‘chronic’ or ‘severe’ by the Teacher. Other grounds for termination of contract may or may not be expressed in these documents. At the termination of the contract, the customer will receive a full refund for any unattended classes paid for in advance. Refunds may be paid for by check, through the mail, or through Paypal or other electronic payment service.

9. Tardy Policy: Each class is packed with learning. Please make sure that you are on time, as your child will not want to miss even one minute of musical fun. Habitual tardiness may be grounds for termination of the Agreement. Thank you for being on time!

10. Teacher Communication: Mr. Shiloh will not have much time to talk before or after classes. Please be mindful. The preferred method of communication is via email. All emails shall be answered within 24 hours (on business days).

11. Photos and Images: The Parent agrees to allow the Student’s photograph, voice, and image to be used by the Academy for use in the Academy’s publications, promotion materials, social networks, and website, without compensation and without prior notice. However, with the exception of incidental identification (e.g., a first name on a name tag), neither the name of the Student nor of the Parent, nor any other personal information, shall be publicly shared. Moreover, Parents are encouraged to take videos and/or make recordings of the Academy’s Christmas and Spring Concerts and other special events, to be posted on social media or other platforms as desired.

12. Academy/Family Cooperation: A positive and constructive relationship between the Academy and Family Member (for example, a parent, student, or other person associated with a student) is essential to the Academy’s educational purpose and responsibilities to its students. If any Family Member engages in behavior, communications, or interactions on or off campus, that is disruptive, intimidating, overly aggressive, or reflects a loss of confidence in or disagreement with the Academy’s policies, methods of instruction or discipline, or otherwise interferes with the Academy’s safety procedures, responsibilities, or accomplishment of its educational purpose or program, the Academy reserves the right to dismiss their Student from the Academy. The Academy may also place restrictions on a Family Member’s involvement or activity at the Academy for other reasons that the Academy deems appropriate. Any determination under this Paragraph shall be in the Academy’s sole discretion. In the event of a termination of contract, there will be a full refund for all unattended sessions. The Academy also reserves the right to withdraw an offer of enrollment or re-enrollment at any time and to void the executed enrollment Agreement.

13. Medical Authorization: If the Parent is absent from the Academy, and, in the opinion of the Academy, the Student needs medical or surgical services which require Parent’s pre-authorization or consent, Parent hereby authorizes, appoints, and empowers the Academy to act as Parent and furnish such consent on Parent’s behalf. Parent confirms that it is Parent’s desire that the Student be furnished with such medical or surgical services as soon as reasonably possible after the need arises. Parent hereby releases and holds the Academy harmless from any liability which might arise from the giving of such consent. Parent agrees to reimburse the Academy for any medical expenditures made on Student’s behalf. Age-appropriate toys may be given to the Student. Parent agrees not to hold the Academy liable in any way concerning the toys given as reward. It is incumbent on the Parent to insure the appropriateness and safety of the awarded toys.

14. Promotional Materials/Statements: The Academy continually strives to ensure the accuracy of all written materials, including, but not limited to, promotional information, catalogs, brochures, handbooks, and advertising. In an effort to do so, however, information included in the materials (including class sizes, pricing, etc.) may change as the Academy grows. For the most accurate, up-to-date changes, see the shilohschool.org website.

15. Governing Law/Waiver of Jury Trial: This Contract and the rights and obligations of the parties shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington without regard to principles of conflicts of law. The parties agree to waive the right to jury trial over any claims pertaining to Student’s enrollment, attendance, or separation from the Academy including, but not limited to, claims of breach of contract, under statute, ordinance, or common law. The exclusive venue for any claim shall be any Washington state court in Cowlitz County, Washington as appropriate.

16. Force Majeure: The Academy’s duties and obligations under this Contract shall be suspended immediately without notice during all periods that the Academy is closed because of force majeure events including, but not limited to, any fire, war, governmental action, epidemic, or any other event beyond the Academy’s control. If such an event occurs, the Academy’s duties and obligations in this Agreement will be postponed until such time as the Academy, in its sole discretion, may safely reopen. In the event that the Academy cannot reopen due to an event under this clause, the Academy is under no obligation to refund any portion of the tuition paid.

17. Understanding of Terms: Please read this Agreement carefully. By enrolling on the shilohschool.org website or by signing below, the Parent acknowledges that the Parent understands and agrees to the terms of this Agreement. If the Parent has questions about the terms, they are encouraged to seek advice of counsel or to seek clarification from the SCMA administration via email at ken@shilohschool.org.

18. Entire Agreement: This Agreement sets forth the entire understanding of the parties hereto with respect to the subject matter hereof and merges and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous oral understandings between the parties. There have been no representations or warranties made by any party other than the representations and warranties contained herein.

19. Volunteering: Parents may be asked to volunteer in the classroom. No teaching is required, but simply another adult presence is needed. Parent volunteers will be rewarded with a small stipend and gift.

20. Open to All: The SCMA is open to anyone, Christian or non-Christian

21. Doctrinal Statement: We believe the Bible to be true, from cover to cover: that God has always existed, that God is triune (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and that Christ died on Cross so that we may know Him, so that we may become the goodness of God.

We also believe that Christ shall restore all things; He will create a new world without pollution nor confusion, but a world of unspeakable beauty and that death and pain shall be no more. Moreover, we teach that heaven is morally perfect and that we are not. For example, have we not lied, stolen, and disobeyed our parents? We all need a Savior. Only the cross of Christ can give us a new nature, that we can be 'born again,' made new and fully worthy of heaven.

Your child will not only grow academically, but also grow spiritually, remembering that, as it written in the Bible, 'Love is patient.' and 'Love is kind' - something that even adults need to keep in mind!

Thank you for considering the Shiloh Christian Music Academy!
